Currently, various state boards and institutions, including the IITs, conduct at least 150 entrance exams every year. The government decided to dump all such exams, including the IIT-JEE and the AIEEE, at a meeting of IIT Council (IIT directors) and officials from the ministry of human resource development (HRD) and decided to have one single examination from 2013

Students who are preparing for IIT JEE 2013 Entrance Exam are here by informed that the IIT Council has decided to make Changes in the Entrance Examination pattern for IITs, Officials Said that the New Pattern would be flowed from the year 2013.

As per the new Pattern IIT JEE would be Totally based on the Aptitude based test Which includes Questions Based on Reasoning, All Subjects Studied at their Schooling Level and  also Questions Related to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics Subjects.

IIT Kanpur Director Dhande said that the IIT Council has decided for the 50% Weightage would be given to the marks Scored in their Respective Bord Exams and other 50 % Weightage will be Based on the Performance in the IITJEE Ranks.

He said that During IIT Council Meeting the members Discussed about the weightage marks to calculate the Final IITJEE Result. Instead of calculating the Performance of Students Percentage based on the marks Received in Class XII the Weightage must be given to the percentile. He said that Because of Various State Boards of which Students Percentage achieved in One State board varies form other State Board. To Over Come this Uniformity the Percentage of Students would be converted into percentiles and would be used for Further Comparisons.

He said that IIT JEE 2013 Final Ranks will be calculated based on 50% weightage based on Percentile Performance and 50 % weightage Based on the IIT JEE Score. These Recommendations has Been Submitted by the Ramaswamy Committee which is Set by the Human Resource Development on the Reforms in IITs. Source Said that a Notice Will be Received from the JEE Board on the IIT JEE Test pattern.

The new pattern of JEE would include conducting an aptitude test for the exam aspirants. The students will have to crack this aptitude test consisting of questions based on reasoning and all other subjects that the students have studied in their schools. But it is worth mentioning here that the aptitude test would also include questions related to subjects like physics, chemistry and maths.

A recent press release says that 40% weightage would be given to marks scored in plus two exams.
